Seeking Integrative and Functional Medicine Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Integrative and Functional Medicine Family Nurse Practitioner to join our innovative healthcare team. This is a unique opportunity to provide integrative care to children by combining traditional medical practices with holistic health approaches under the guidance of world-renowned PANDAS specialist Dr. Nancy O’Hara. As a holistic pediatric nurse practitioner, you will work closely with patients and their families, providing holistic care through assessment, treatment planning, and ongoing management, as well as promoting overall health and wellness by addressing a range of pediatric conditions including autism, PANDAS, and Lyme disease.

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Patient Assessment and Diagnosis:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments, including detailed patient histories and physical exams
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and labs to make informed treatment decisions.
• Diagnose medical conditions using a holistic approach, considering all aspects of the patient’s health and well-being.
• Maintain accurate and thorough patient records in compliance with medical and legal requirements.

2. Treatment Planning:

• Develop comprehensive, individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that integrate conventional and alternative therapies.
• Prescribe and manage medications and natural immune-modulating therapies to treat streptococcal infections and manage co-occurring conditions.
• Monitor the effectiveness of treatments and adjust care plans accordingly to address changes in the child’s condition.

3. Patient and Family Education: 

• Educate patients and families on the nature of PANDAS, its symptoms, triggers, and the importance of timely treatment.
• Provide recommendations on immune system support and overall wellness strategies.

4. Collaborative Care: 

Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including physicians, nurse practitioners, health coaches, and nutritionists to ensure well-rounded care.

Qualifications:

Education: Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing (MSN/DNP) with a focus on Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
Licensure: Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in New York and board certification as a Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of pediatric clinical experience, preferably with exposure to holistic or integrative medicine.

Skills & Knowledge: 

• Strong foundation in pediatric acute care and family-centered treatment.
• Understanding of holistic and integrative healthcare modalities
• Excellent communication and patient education skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative care team.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Certification in holistic or integrative medicine (e.g. AHC-BN, FMCP)
• Experience with complementary therapies such as functional medicine, naturopathy, or herbal health.
