Integrative/Functional Medicine MD, DO, NP
Integrative/Functional Medicine MD/DO or NP at Metabolize Health plays a vital role focusing on a holistic approach to patient care, combining principles of Integrative and Functional Medicine with expertise in metabolic health. The MD/DO or NP will establish care for patients, conduct thorough assessments, diagnose metabolic disorders, develop comprehensive treatment plans, and collaborate with Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Patient Consultation and Assessment:
- Conduct detailed medical histories and comprehensive physical examinations of patients, taking into account lifestyle factors, environmental influences, and individual patient needs.
- Order and interpret relevant diagnostic tests, including advanced functional medicine tests, to gain deeper insights into underlying metabolic imbalances.
- Diagnosis and Treatment:
- Formulate precise diagnoses based on patient assessments, medical history, and functional medicine evaluations to identify root causes of metabolic disorders.
- Develop treatment plans that incorporate both conventional and complementary therapies, including lifestyle modifications, dietary interventions, nutraceuticals, and pharmaceuticals when necessary.
- Establishing Patient Care:
- Establish ongoing care and management plans for patients with metabolic conditions, ensuring regular follow-ups and monitoring of functional medicine markers.
- Provide education and support to patients, empowering them to actively participate in managing their metabolic health through lifestyle changes and personalized treatments.
- Collaboration with NDs/NPs:
- Collaborate closely with Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) to create a synergistic and integrative approach to patient care.
- Engage in interdisciplinary case discussions, sharing medical information and collectively developing comprehensive treatment plans for patients requiring a combination of expertise.
- Referral Management:
- Identify patients who would benefit from the specialized care provided by Naturopathic Doctors or Nurse Practitioners, particularly in the context of integrative and functional medicine.
- Facilitate timely referrals to NDs/NPs and ensure seamless transfer of patient information and medical records.
- Medical Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records of all patient interactions, diagnoses, treatments, and referrals, paying special attention to functional medicine evaluations and interventions.
- Health Promotion and Education:
- Promote health and wellness through educative initiatives, emphasizing preventive measures, lifestyle changes, and the importance of individualized care based on Integrative and Functional Medicine principles for improved metabolic health.
Requirements:
- Medical Doctor (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or Nurse Practitioner degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board certification in an appropriate medical specialty related to metabolic health and Integrative/Functional Medicine is advantageous.
- Valid medical license.
- Demonstrated experience in managing patients with metabolic disorders using an Integrative and Functional Medicine approach.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
- Strong commitment to patient care, well-being, and holistic health management.
- DEA License.
- Strong interest in learning new techniques modalities and practice methods.
