Medical Director, Osher Center for Integrative Health – Physician (MD/DO)
Position Summary
The Osher Center for Integrative Health at Uhealth MSOM seeks a dedicated and collaborative physician (MD/DO) to serve as its Medical Director. The Medical Director will work closely with the Center Director and clinical team to oversee clinical quality, guide operations, and ensure effective delivery of integrative
health services. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the clinical practice of integrative medicine within a leading academic health system.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
- Provide medical oversight and leadership for integrative health services offered by the Center.
- Ensure safe, high-quality, evidence-informed care that reflects whole-person approaches.
- Contribute to direct patient care, where appropriate and based on clinical expertise.
Operational and Quality Oversight
- Collaborate with administrative and clinical staff to optimize workflows, documentation, and clinical processes.
- Oversee quality and safety initiatives, monitor clinical outcomes, and lead quality improvement efforts.
- Support clinical compliance with institutional, state, and regulatory policies.
Team Supervision and Development
- Provide mentorship and clinical guidance to a multidisciplinary team of integrative providers.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluation processes.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive clinical culture.
Strategic and Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Advise the Center Director on clinical priorities and service development.
- Serve as a liaison with referring departments and institutional leadership.
- Foster interdisciplinary integration of services across the health system.
Education and Advocacy
- Contribute to teaching and mentorship of medical learners and staff.
- Support institutional efforts to increase awareness and adoption of integrative approaches.
- Represent the clinical perspective in Center initiatives and outreach.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO with an active medical license and board certification.
- Clinical experience and/or formal training in integrative or complementary medicine.
- At least 5 years of post-residency clinical experience.
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills.
- Strong commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellowship or certification in integrative medicine (e.g., ABIHM, AIHM, or equivalent).
- Experience in clinical operations, quality improvement, or program management.
- Prior supervision of multidisciplinary clinical teams.
- Experience in an academic medical center or large health system.
Appointment
- This leadership role is supported either through protected administrative time or an administrative compensation supplement, depending on departmental structure and the candidate’s existing role.
- Clinical FTE and responsibilities will be defined based on the candidate’s expertise and the Center’s needs.
- Academic rank will be determined based on qualifications and institutional norms.
