IFM Scholarship Opportunities

The Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) provides three scholarship opportunities to expand access to functional medicine training.

Applications for the 2026 Founders’ Scholarship and Debbie Sanstad Scholarship will open January 7, 2026.

Offered to One Receipt Annually:

The IFM Founders’ Scholarship was established and funded by IFM founders Susan and Jeff Bland. It supports functional medicine education for practitioners working with underserved communities who show exemplary leadership and passion for their communities and the mission of IFM.

The Debbie Sanstad Scholarship is awarded in memory of longtime IFM team member Debbie Sanstad, this annual scholarship covers tuition for all IFM core functional medicine curriculum (AFMCP + APMs).

Offered to Multiple Recipients Annually (31 in 2024):

The Functional Medicine for All Scholarship is intended for clinicians who are beginning their certification journey and who are currently working with medically underserved communities in the United States or internationally. This scholarship covers the cost of the upcoming Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP) and offers virtual facilitated sessions with functional medicine professionals to enhance program learnings .
