Functional/ Integrative Physician Assistant
An Integrative Medicine Physician Assistant (PA) plays a crucial role in delivering holistic healthcare that combines conventional medicine with complementary therapies. This position focuses on treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—by addressing the underlying causes of illness and promoting overall wellness. Key Responsibilities
Patient Assessment
- Conduct thorough medical histories and physical examinations.
- Evaluate patients’ physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and tests to inform treatment plans.
Treatment Planning
- Collaborate with physician and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive, individualized treatment plans.
- Recommend and implement evidence-based integrative therapies, including nutrition, herbal medicine, acupuncture, and lifestyle modifications.
Patient Education
- Educate patients on integrative health practices and the benefits of various therapies.
- Provide resources and support for lifestyle changes, stress management, and preventive care.
- Facilitate workshops and seminars on topics related to integrative health.
Clinical Support
- Assist in performing minor procedures and administering treatments as needed.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including physician and nutritionist
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding treatment options and outcomes.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss patient care and improve clinic operations.
Continuing Education
- Stay updated on the latest research and trends in integrative medicine.
- Attend professional development workshops and maintain certification as required.
- Engage in community outreach to promote integrative health education.
Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
Licensure: Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant.
Certification: National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification.
Experience: Previous experience in integrative medicine or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems- Eclinicalworks
Knowledge of holistic and alternative therapies.
