Functional Medicine Provider (Naturopathic Doctor, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant)
About Us — Two Practices, One Integrated Model
We are opening a new Pasadena, California location where two established brands come together under one roof:
The OB-Gyn & Incontinence Center (herobgyn.com) is a respected women’s health practice led by a board-certified Urogynecologist and pelvic reconstructive surgeon. For more than 20 years we have cared for women across gynecology, urogynecology, pelvic floor health, menopause and hormone therapy, sexual wellness, and medical aesthetics, using advanced, minimally invasive, office-based treatments.
Ojas Wellness (ojaswellness.org) is our integrative wellness brand, where ancient wisdom meets modern healing. We blend evidence-based Functional Medicine with time-tested Ayurvedic principles to address the root cause of chronic conditions — supporting gut health, hormones, autoimmune balance, metabolic and menopausal health, nutrition, longevity, and lifestyle transformation.
Our new Pasadena center is being built to deliver both approaches together — conventional women’s medicine and root-cause functional and integrative care — in a single, seamless patient experience. We are looking for a founding Functional Medicine provider to help us build that program from the ground up.
The Role
As our Functional Medicine Provider, you will lead root-cause clinical care for patients seeking a more personalized, preventive, and whole-person approach to their health. You’ll work alongside Dr. Kothandaraman and our clinical team, with the support of an established women’s health practice and the growth runway of a brand-new location and service line.
We are intentionally starting this role per diem / part-time, building your schedule and patient panel as we introduce functional and integrative services and demand grows. As the program matures, this role is designed to transition into a full-time, W-2 position for the right long-term partner.
What You’ll Do
•  Perform comprehensive functional-medicine intakes and root-cause assessments, with a focus on women’s health, hormones, gut and metabolic health, autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, menopause, and longevity.
•  Order and interpret advanced and conventional labs; design personalized care plans spanning nutrition, lifestyle, supplementation, and — within your licensed scope — appropriate therapeutics.
•  Collaborate with Dr. Kothandaraman and staff to integrate functional care with gynecologic, urogynecologic, hormone (e.g., bioidentical/BioTE), aesthetic, and pelvic health services.
•  Partner with our Ojas Wellness offerings — Ayurvedic consultation, nutrition and gut programs, lifestyle coaching, yoga/meditation therapy, and medical esthetics — to deliver a cohesive, whole-person plan.
•  Educate and coach patients toward sustainable lifestyle change and long-term prevention.
•  Help shape protocols, service lines, and the patient experience for a growing integrative program.
Who We’re Looking For
Credentials — one of the following (no MD/DO for this role):
•  Nurse Practitioner (NP/FNP) — active, unrestricted California RN + NP license, with furnishing/prescriptive authority under a standardized procedure or collaborating physician; or
•  Physician Assistant (PA-C) — active California PA license, able to practice under a physician practice agreement; or
•  Naturopathic Doctor (ND) — active California Naturopathic Doctor license (please note California defines ND scope under the Naturopathic Doctors Act; NDs practice within that scope and collaborate with our supervising physician for medical/prescriptive functions).
Preferred:
•  Formal functional-medicine training — Institute for Functional Medicine (IFMCP) certification strongly preferred (A4M/ABAAM, or equivalent integrative training also welcomed).
•  Experience in women’s health, hormones/menopause, gut health, or metabolic/autoimmune care.
•  Familiarity with, or genuine interest in, Ayurvedic and lifestyle-medicine approaches.
•  Comfort with EMR documentation (we use eClinicalWorks) and a collaborative, team-based style.
•  Entrepreneurial mindset — excited to help build a program, not just fill a schedule.
You’ll thrive here if you believe in treating the whole person, practicing root-cause medicine, and combining the best of modern science with time-tested wisdom — with compassion at the center.
Compensation & Schedule
•  Per diem / part-time to start:
•  Path to full-time W-2: as the program grows, transition to a salaried role with benefits
•  Flexible days to begin (e.g., 1–3 days/week), scaling with patient volume. Some remote consultations.
