Minimally Invasive Procedure Specialists, LLC (MIPS) is a physician-owned interventional radiology and vascular practice with an office-based lab in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Founded by E. Brooke Spencer, MD, MIPS has built a national reputation for the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic venous disorders and the complex chronic conditions that travel with them.

Our patients are not simple. They arrive after years of being told their symptoms are unexplained. Many carry overlapping diagnoses — pelvic venous disorders, POTS, hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and hypermobility spectrum disorders, mast cell activation, long COVID, MALS, Nutcracker and May-Thurner syndromes, and chronic DVT.

MIPS is launching a functional and integrative medicine service line built specifically around the complex chronic disease population we already serve — a program designed from the start to sit alongside interventional care, not adjacent to it.

THE OPPORTUNITY
You will build a functional medicine program on top of an established, high-volume, nationally recognized referral base — without having to build the practice, the brand, the billing infrastructure, or the patient pipeline yourself.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Clinical care

• Serve as the primary functional and integrative medicine consultant for patients with pelvic venous disorders, POTS and dysautonomia, EDS and hypermobility spectrum disorders, mast cell activation, long COVID, and related complex chronic conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive initial evaluations — extended visits, structured history, Beighton scoring and hypermobility assessment, autonomic screening, mast cell and inflammatory workup, metabolic, nutritional, hormonal, and mitochondrial evaluation.
• Provide pre-procedural optimization for interventional patients — iron and ferritin status, vitamin D, thyroid, glycemic control, mast cell stabilization, volume and autonomic status, and inflammatory burden — with attention to tissue fragility and wound healing in the hypermobile population.
• Own the longitudinal management of patients whose venous anatomy has been successfully treated but whose systemic symptoms persist.
• Serve as a diagnostic triage resource, helping identify which patients have a genuine vascular compression component warranting advanced imaging and which are better served by systemic management.

Program leadership

• Design the clinical model, intake pathways, standing order sets, and outcome measures for the functional medicine service line.
• Provide clinical supervision, protocol development, and collaborative practice oversight for the functional medicine nurse practitioner team.
• Partner with practice leadership on service design, membership and program structure, scheduling models, and capacity planning.

Education and research

• Contribute to patient and clinician education on the intersection of connective tissue disorders, autonomic dysfunction, and venous disease.
• Participate in structured outcomes data collection — symptom scores, functional status, and comorbidity phenotyping before and after intervention — supporting research and coverage advocacy in this field.
• Represent MIPS at national conferences and within the functional, integrative, and vascular medicine communities.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required

• MD or DO with board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, OB/GYN, or a related primary specialty.
• Active Colorado medical license, or eligibility and willingness to obtain prior to start.
• IFM Certified Practitioner (IFMCP), A4M/MMI fellowship, ABLM diplomate status, or equivalent formal training in functional, integrative, or lifestyle medicine — or documented advanced training in progress.
• Demonstrated clinical experience managing complex, multi-system chronic illness.
• Comfort practicing at the edge of established evidence while remaining rigorous, referenced, and honest with patients about what is known and what is not.

Strongly preferred

• Clinical experience with EDS/HSD, POTS and dysautonomia, MCAS, ME/CFS, or long COVID.
• Familiarity with pelvic venous disorders, chronic pelvic pain, or vascular compression syndromes.
• Prior experience building or leading a clinical program, service line, or membership-based care model.
• Interest in clinical research, publication, or teaching.

THE ROLE
This is not a follow-up-visit role carved out of someone else’s panel. Our functional medicine nurse practitioners carry their own patients, manage them longitudinally, and are the clinician most patients will know best.

You will work in close partnership with our functional medicine physician and our interventional radiologists, with protocols you help write and the time you actually need with each patient.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Direct patient care

• Manage a longitudinal panel of patients with complex chronic conditions — pelvic venous disorders, POTS and dysautonomia, EDS and hypermobility spectrum disorders, mast cell activation, long COVID, and overlapping presentations.
• Perform comprehensive intake evaluations including structured symptom history, Beighton scoring, orthostatic vital signs, and functional status assessment.
• Order, interpret, and act on laboratory and functional testing under established protocols and physician collaboration.
• Develop and adjust individualized care plans spanning nutrition, sleep, activity pacing, autonomic conditioning, pharmacologic management, and targeted supplementation.
• Deliver pre-procedural optimization and post-procedural recovery management for interventional patients, in coordination with the IR physicians.
• Manage chronic care coordination touchpoints — including principal care management, chronic care management, and remote monitoring workflows where clinically appropriate.

Patient education and support

• Serve as the primary educator for patients who are often newly diagnosed after years of uncertainty — translating complex, evolving science into something usable.
• Build and refine patient-facing education materials, care pathways, and self-management tools.
• Coordinate with physical therapy, nutrition, behavioral health, and outside subspecialists.

Program contribution

• Help build the protocols, order sets, templates, and outcome measures for a service line that is being designed now, with your input.
• Participate in structured outcomes data collection supporting research and coverage advocacy.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required

• Certified Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C/FNP-BC, AGNP, or AGACNP) with active national board certification.
• Active Colorado APRN license with prescriptive authority, or eligibility and willingness to obtain prior to start. [Additional state licensure may be requested for telehealth coverage.]
• Minimum three years of clinical practice experience; experience with chronic or multi-system disease strongly preferred.
• Excellent listening skills and the patience to sit with diagnostic uncertainty without dismissing the patient in front of you.
• Comfort working within protocol while exercising real clinical judgment.

Strongly preferred

• IFM Certified Practitioner (IFMCP), A4M/MMI training, ABLM certification, or equivalent functional and integrative medicine training — completed or in progress. Candidates without formal training who bring strong relevant clinical experience will be considered, with training support available.
• Direct experience with EDS/HSD, POTS, MCAS, ME/CFS, long COVID, or chronic pelvic pain populations.
• Experience in a specialty, procedural, or office-based lab environment.
• Familiarity with chronic care management and remote patient monitoring programs.
