Position Summary
The Manager, Resources is expected to contribute to and influence the development of IFM’s programs, products, and education strategy. In this role, the Manager, Resources will work on programs, products, and initiatives, and provide oversight and guidance as needed to ensure the successful delivery of each educational asset and/or program. The manager will also work in collaboration with the supervisor on long-term strategies to support the Medical Education Resources team with day-to-day operational management. The Manager, Resources will anticipate internal and external challenges that may impact team workflow and bandwidth as well as research, recommend, and implement processes, products, and service improvements in collaboration with the supervisor. This role requires specialized expertise and knowledge in functional medicine and functional nutrition.
Essential Functions
Educational Asset Development, Management, Maintenance, and Licensing Support
- Monitors, coordinates, and supervises content development, desktop publishing, management, and maintenance of MER assets.
- Leads or supports planning, resourcing, budgeting, progress reporting, troubleshooting, and collaboration within and outside the MERS team as directed by supervisor.
- Collaborates within and outside the Medical Education Department to develop assignments, timetables, and responsibilities for team members, align with the organizational content strategy and other content teams, and to ensure that materials and resources are produced and delivered on time.
- Oversees the curation and evaluation of evidentiary sources and related content while ensuring quality and alignment with IFM Standards, copyright policy, citations database and other parameters in collaboration with the Standards team.
- Participates in ongoing training (evidence, copyright, branding, accessibility) critical to the development of content at IFM.
- Manages the implementation of and adherence to established standards and best practices for project management, intellectual property, branding and accessibility in MER products and processes, in collaboration with related teams and as directed by the supervisor.
- Ensures project results meet requirements regarding quality, reliability, schedule, and cost, including adherence to the Functional Medicine Standards and IFM Content & Evidence Standards; Monitors performance and recommends schedule changes, cost adjustments, or resource additions.
- Collaborates with staff members across departments, consultants, and reviewers to ensure that educational content is of high professional quality and incorporates elements of adult learning and instructional design, with an emphasis on outcome measures regarding identified learning objectives.
- Collaborates within and outside the MERS team on the development and evaluation of new educational assets and other products, as well as enhancements to existing products or strategic product extensions.
- Creates, maintains and updates MER program objectives and content; makes recommendations for revisions and improvements to course materials in collaboration with the eLearning Department
- Collaborates closely with the Project Management Office and its staff in the execution of the responsibilities and functions listed above.
- Develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for various processes and workflows and communicates updates to MER team members and other key stakeholders.
- Contributes to distribution strategies within the Strategic Partnerships & Innovation (SPI) and Contracts & Asset Compliance (CAS) teams; makes recommendations for inclusion in third-party licensing agreements.
- Leads, coordinates, and supervises the use and tracking of MER-specific assets in other IFM content and/or partnership licensing projects, as appropriate.
- Contributes to MER and other content development, management and maintenance, as needed.
Relationship Management
- Supports and develops relationships with IFM strategic partners to coordinate the dissemination and inclusion of IFM intellectual property.
- Participates in IFM online forums, webinars, and other interactive activities with partners and participants as needed.
- Acts as an ambassador for IFM during on-site and online events as needed, providing expertise, offering support, and receiving feedback from partners, attendees, and other third parties – through both formal and informal arrangements.
Supervision and Leadership
- Oversees and sets the workflow of direct reports by setting priorities and objectives with clear directions, communicating expectations, and ensuring comprehension; Provides training as needed.
- Responsible for managing and mentoring employees, providing personalized guidance, support and training on responsibilities as needed.
- Responsible for provides personalized, formal and informal feedback to direct reports early and often. Empowers direct reports through active listening to find solutions when problems arise, drawing teammates in to recommend solutions and offering support as needed.
- Conducts regular performance check-ins and collaborates with supervisor and direct reports to set short-, mid-, and long-term goals. Responsible for leading individuals and teams by providing clear direction, coaching and feedback.

Strategy Implementation
- Develops and implements procedures and processes for IFM’s products, products, and educational strategy.
- In collaboration with the supervisor, responsible for implementing the strategy and operations for IFM’s programs and products.
- Collaborates across departments to implement the content strategy and execution of IFM’s programs and products.
What We’re Looking For
- Advanced degree in health-related field from an accredited institution required.
- Experience managing and mentoring teams, onsite and/or virtual teams.
- Experience in medical writing and/or educational content editing and management.
- Experience with adult learning and instructional design principles.
- Experience in functional medicine or functional nutrition strongly preferred.
- Prior clinical experience preferred.
- Certification in medical writing preferred.
- Proficient in the curation, interpretation, and application of medical literature.
- Lead: Ability to lead individuals and teams by providing clear direction, coaching and feedback.
- Communication: Ability to communicate information in concise, actionable language and have the recipient understand the message whether orally or in writing; Advanced conflict resolution skills.
- Decision Making: Ability to make decisions guided by resource availability and functional objectives. Demonstrate data driven decision making combined with intuitive understanding and an ability to translate key insights to stakeholders and partners.

- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)ability to adapt to new technologies and software, including Adobe InDesign, Dropbox, Asana, Airtable, Articulate 360, and BioRender.
