Hospitals Responding to Patient Demand for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM)
The American Hospital Association and Samueli Institute released 2010 survey results on CAM use in hospitals. The survey indicates more than 42% of responding hospitals offer CAM therapies. Sita Ananth, Director of Knowledge Services for Samueli Institute stated, “The survey results reinforce the fact that patients want the best that both conventional and alternative medicine can offer, and hospitals are responding.” Patient demand accounted for 78% of the criteria used by a hospital to select CAM therapies.
