Consumer Reports Survey Finds High Use of Alternative Therapies
Consumer reports surveyed 45,000 readers and found three out of four were using some form of “alternative” treatment. The report found here was published in July and found that 38 million adults make 300 million visits to CAM practitioners each year in the US.
The report indicated alternative treatments ranked below prescriptions in many cases. This indicator speaks to the conditioned reaction to quickly relieve the symptom instead of the pause necessary to find the cause and bring the body back in to balance. Still, the growing number o f CAM users is encouraging. Also CAM treatments such as chiropractic, deep-tissue massage, and yoga ranked high on the lists of helpful treatments for back pain, neck pain, and osteoarthritis.
